We hope you enjoy these crafts ... and we really hope you'll come in to the library, where Mrs. Joy teaches afternoon craft classes for all ages (2-year-old, preschool, kindergarten–grade 1 and grades 2–5).

Make a Butterfly Autograph Book!

What you'll need:

• Print this pattern
• White paper
• Scissors
• Markers
• Thin ribbon or pipe cleaner

Fold the white paper in half and use the pattern to cut out the wing. Decorate with markers. This will be the book's cover.

Use the cover as a pattern to cut four more butterflies. These are the inner pages of the book.

Tie the pages of the booklet together at the center. Let the ribbon or pipe cleaner stick up at the top to form the butterfly's antennae.

Make a spider headband!

What you'll need:

• Black construction paper
• Red, orange or yellow construction paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• Tape

Use black construction paper to make a headband, two inches wide.

Cut eight 1" strips of black paper for the spider's legs. Fold strips to make knees and feet.

Cut small black ovals and large colored ovals. Glue them together to make the eyes.

Glue the eyes and legs onto the strip as shown above.

Make a Flying Fly!

What you'll need:

• Print this fly
• A bendy straw
• A stapler
• Crayons or markers

Cut out and color the fly. (Round out around some of the cuts so they won't tear.)

Staple the fly to the bendy end of the straw.

Wave the straw up and down, and the wings will flap like a pesky fly!
